Hurtigruten Expeditions has announced that MS Maud will return to service in April 2024 after undergoing essential repairs to damage caused by a storm in December.
The purpose-built ship suffered the damage after being hit by a “rogue wave” when sailing in the North Sea on 21 December during a trip to see the Northern Lights.
The operator, also known as HX, said that Maud is now due to resume sailings in mid-April, starting with a trip around the British Isles from Dover. The vessel will then head to the Arctic in July before starting Antarctica itineraries in October.
HX has also created a range of options for people originally booked on trips on Maud departing between 3 February and 16 March. These passengers can choose to sail on the same Northern Lights itinerary on MS Spitsbergen subject to availability.
There is also the option for these clients to rebook another voyage between January and April 2024, including itineraries on sister brand Hurtigruten’s ships.
All of Maud’s sailings from April are part of HX’s current Wave Season offer, including free flights and an extra discount for members of HX’s loyalty programme.
