Silversea Cruises is disembarking passengers on Silver Moon in Jordan to avoid ports in the Red Sea after warships from the US and UK repelled a barrage of Houthi rockets.
Passengers on the 596-passenger Silversea ship will disembark in Aqaba and the line is in the process of organising flights home.
It comes as the US secretary of state Antony Blinken said further attacks by the Yemeni rebels on international shipping could prompt a western military response, warning: “There will be consequences.”
A Silversea spokesperson said: “The safety of our guests, crew and the communities we visit is always our top priority. We have amended Silver Moon’s itinerary between Aqaba and Muscat.
“Guests have been informed and will now disembark in Aqaba. We are in the process of scheduling return air.”
The spokesperson added: “Our global security team continues to closely monitor the situation.”
In October, several cruise lines drew up new winter programmes to ensure passengers did not have to visit Israeli ports amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.
MSC Cruises pulled two Red Sea programmes, while other lines – including Norwegian Cruise Line and Oceania Cruises – cancelled all calls to Israel.
