An $80 million refurbishment, a new restaurant and culture at the core make Kā’anapali Beach Hotel the perfect home away from home
With an $80 million property-wide renovation and a new beachfront restaurant under its belt, Hawai’i’s Kā’anapali Beach Hotel – Hawai’i’s ‘most Hawaiian hotel’ – is waiting to welcome clients with the same hospitality it has offered since its opening in 1962.
Kā’anapali Beach Hotel, located on the western sands of Maui, puts culture at the forefront of everything it does, with the aim of enriching not only the guests’ but also the employees’ experiences by carrying forward key lessons and values from the past. One big ‘Ohana, or family.
A team of 14 cultural practitioners – local specialists in their fields – offer free daily classes in everything from hula and Hawaiian language to learning a few chords on the ukulele and traditional Hawaiian crafting. The hotel wants its guests to leave feeling enriched by their stay.
In fact, in November this year Kā'anapali Beach Hotel will celebrate 30 years of Hula O Nā Keiki – a children’s hula competition for local and international hula students held on the grounds of the hotel. Guests are invited to purchase a ticket for, watch and experience the weekend of Hawaiian arts and music, which aims to educate children in the ways of Hawai'i’s ancestors while celebrating the songs of Maui.

Over 61% of Kā'anapali Beach Hotel’s 432 guest rooms have been renovated and redesigned, offering new room amenities, Hawaiian-themed furniture and artwork, and upgraded bathroom features. The guest room wings have been renamed Papakū, Kauhale, Wēkiu, and Aouli – tributes to the ocean and ocean floor, the land, the mountains, and beyond.
The renovated rooms are categorised as ‘Premium’ and each feature employee-made makamae (precious gifts) that fit the theme. The non-renovated rooms are categorised as ‘Traditional’ and have the look and feel returning guests are used to.
As an extension of its aloha spirit, keiki (children) up to 17 years old stay for free with a paying adult (using existing bedding) at Kā'anapali Beach Hotel.
The new family-friendly beachfront restaurant is named Huihui (meaning star constellation, or to gather), in homage to Hawai'i’s voyaging past whereby stars guided its people across thousands of miles of the Pacific. Additionally, food is the reason for people to gather, mingle and share in culture.
The food takes inspiration from the Polynesian migration, Hawaiian culture, and then with the various ethnicities that eventually immigrated to form today’s culture.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, guests can enjoy incredible views of neighbouring islands Moloka'i and Lana‘i while sipping on a signature tropical cocktail – winding down from a day of adventures. Huihui offers a special keiki menu and children five and younger eat for free with each paying adult.
Agents are important to the resort, and for every 10 nights booked, agents will receive one complimentary night for themselves (Maui For Free).
A free gift (with the agent’s compliments) can be arranged for guests upon arrival and couples celebrating an anniversary or honeymoon will receive a special amenity.
So why not let Kā'anapali say ‘aloha’ to your precious guests? They’re sure to be in for a memorable, and traditionally Hawaiian, time.
