Cunard has revealed just how many festive goodies it takes to serve up Christmas on its three ships, which will get through 2,400 Christmas puddings, 90 turkeys and 4,000 mince pies this December.
The ships also use 16,416 Christmas crackers and 1,246 bottles of Champagne, and decorate an impressive 3,000 Christmas trees. These include a 21-foot tree on Queen Mary 2, which is turned into a festive masterpiece in the video below:
Christmas experiences include bespoke gifts for guests, traditional festive fare in the ships’ restaurants, and a seasonal twist to the Cunard Afternoon Tea at sea. Shows and carol concerts are also planned, and children will receive treats on Christmas Eve. They’ll be invited to visit the grotto on Christmas morning, where Father Christmas and his helpers will hand out gifts.
Carnival UK president Sture Myrmell said: “Sailing away on a Christmas voyage with Cunard is a festive experience like no other. There’s a real sense of occasion around our ships with surprising Christmas delights in entertainment and hospitality. As the ships sail to the four corners of the world, Christmas feels that little bit extra special on board one of our Queens.”
There is still last-minute availability for sailings this year, and Christmas cruises for 2023 include a 15-night Canary Islands Celebration voyage from Southampton on the Queen Victoria on 23 December 2023.
The Cunard fleet includes Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria and a fourth ship, Queen Anne, will enter service in early 2024.
