The launch of Aman New York marks the brand’s “greatest investment into a single destination to date”, as it rounds out the transformation of the city’s famed Crown Building.

Reservations open on 25 July, with stays available from 2 August at the brand’s 34th hotel worldwide.

Aman New York sits on the corner of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue, and guests start their stay after checking in on the 14th floor beneath a double-height atrium designed by Jean Michel Gathy of Denniston.

The hotel has 83 suites and 22 branded residences and is only the second urban hotel for the group, alongside Aman Tokyo.

“Our strategy to bring the coveted Aman lifestyle to urban destinations continues apace. A milestone opening, Aman New York marks our greatest investment into a single destination to date,” said Vlad Doronin, chairman and chief executive of Aman.

“The hotel introduces an entirely new concept to the city through expansive and unmatched amenities, which propels the brand forward, delivering a guest experience like no other.”

A key part of the hotel is its wellness offering, with the flagship Aman Spa stretching over three floors centred by a 20-metre indoor pool flanked by fire pits and daybeds.

Two large “Spa Houses” comprise double treatment rooms, Banya and Hammam rooms, and private outdoor terraces with hot and cold plunge pools, daybeds and fireplaces. Available for private use, Aman is pitching its Spa Houses as a new concept for the city, able to offer an experience comparable to those of its remotest retreats.

Dining options include Italian restaurant Arva and Nama, Aman’s interpretation of Japan’s washoku tradition, which features a Japanese hinoki wood counter for omakase-style fine dining. There is also a Wine Library, with all three spaces linked by a wraparound Garden Terrace.

Featuring reflective pools and dramatic fire pits, the 650-square-metre outdoor space also benefits from a retracting glass roof. The Jazz Club will bring a nightlife component to the hotel too.

Every suite has a functioning fireplace, a first in New York, while the 11 Grand Suites on the building’s 11th and 12th floors can be configured with additional bedrooms to create family-sized spaces.

Aman New York joins sister properties in the US, Amangani in Wyoming and Amangiri in Utah, while Aman Miami is slated to open in 2024, one of nine further projects in the pipeline globally.

The group’s recently launched second brand Janu – meaning “soul” in Sanskrit – also has three hotels under construction, in Tokyo, Saudi Arabia and Montenegro.

Aman also added an Italian mountain hotel to its portfolio in 2020, when the family-run Rosa Alpina joined the collection.
