AmaWaterways is launching two new river ships on the Mekong and Rhine and Danube rivers in 2026.
Slated to launch on 24 May 2026, AmaSofia will operate a maiden 14-night cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest.
Passengers will sail on three rivers through four countries during the sailing, which will be the first of more than 30 departures the ship will offer in 2026.
The other itineraries include Melodies of the Danube, Romantic Danube and Christmas Markets on the Danube.
AmaKaia, the second new vessel, will join AmaDara on the Mekong from 3 August 2026. Its maiden cruise will be a seven-night itinerary through Vietnam and Cambodia.
It will operate two seven-night itineraries – Charms of the Mekong and Riches of the Mekong – during its maiden season.
In 2026, AmaKaia will operate 22 sailings and 38 departures the following year. The luxury river line said land extensions will be available in several cities including Siem Reap.
Earlier this month, AmaWaterways confirmed it was adding extra sailings amid growing demand for off-peak shoulder season cruises during the months of March, April, November and December.
UK managing director Jamie Loizou said extra demand had helped drive record-breaking booking levels this year.
