Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas is expanding further in Europe with the addition of a hotel in Hungary.
The Anantara New York Palace Budapest Hotel is in the heart of the capital, and is set inside a Belle Epoque building that dates to 1894.
The hotel has 185 guest rooms and suites, including two Presidential Suites, and is currently undergoing its transition to Anantara with the renovation set to be completed in spring 2022.
Work will include a new lobby, room redesigns and the addition of the White Salon, a new restaurant serving “quintessential Hungarian cuisine”.
There will be four other food and drink options – The New York Cafe, with frescoed ceilings and Venetian glass chandeliers with cuisine by chef Andras Wolf; The Poet Bar; the Deep Water Breakfast Room; and the Atrium, a cocktail bar.
An Anantara Spa will be another new addition to the hotel, opening later in 2022, with four therapy rooms and treatments inspired both by Anantara’s Thai roots and by the thermal bath heritage of Budapest.
A vintage VW Samba campervan will take guests out for excursions around the city and surrounding countryside, and cruises on the Danube river will also be available.
“We are thrilled to announce our first property in Hungary. The Anantara New York Palace is a gem offering unique architecture, rich history and heritage. The majestic hotel is a strategic step in the continued growth of Anantara in Europe and represents a great addition to the brand’s portfolio,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Anantara’s parent company Minor Hotels.
The group stands at 40 hotels and other properties in the existing European Anantara portfolio include Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort, Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Marbella, and Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome.
