Atmosphere to open new Oblu resort in the Maldives

Oblu Select Lobigili, located in Male atoll, is due to make its debut on 24 March and can be reached by a 15-minute speedboat ride from Velana International airport.

The new resort features Only Blu Underwater Restaurant, which is billed as being one of the largest underwater dining venues in the Maldives.

There are 68 beach and water villas, while the Lobi Plan includes fine dining, unlimited beverages, spa services, excursions and a selection of non-motorised watersports.

Jorge Amaro, general manager of Oblu Select Lobigili, said: “We are excited to welcome our first guests. Whether they seek the romance of solo travel, a one-of-a-kind celebration with friends or sharing some ‘us time’ with their partner, our secluded sanctuary offers a perfectly chilled-out getaway amid surreal ocean vistas.”

Other dining options on the island include the Ylang-Ylang all-day restaurant and Swing Bar while the spa has been designed for couples and adults with four double treatment rooms.

Other activities include sunset cruises and snorkelling around the resort’s own reef, as well as kayaking, yoga on the beach and fitness session at the overwater gym. Guests can also visit neighbouring Ailafushi island.

Atmosphere’s Colours of Oblu brand now includes Oblu Select Sangeli and Oblu Nature Helengeli, while another property, Oblu Xperience Ailafushi, is also due to open in May this year.
