COMO Hotels and Resorts is to expand in Europe with the opening of the group’s first hotel in France.
COMO Le Montrachet will launch in 2022 in the village of Puligny-Montrachet in Burgundy, one of the world’s most prestigious wine regions.
The project includes four heritage buildings, which will now undergo renovation, and see the launch of 31 rooms and suites, along with new restaurant concepts and the addition of a COMO Shambhala Retreat.
Paola Navone, who has designed several previous hotels for the brand, will conceptualise COMO Le Montrachet, with COMO said to be one of the first international luxury hotel brands to launch in the Burgundy region.
Set in the Cote-d’Or region, hotel guests will be able to enjoy “unparalleled access to some of the most famous Grand Cru vineyards, a criss-cross of picturesque canals and historical treasures”.
In collaboration with OLMA Luxury Holdings, this project began with the acquisition of the original Hotel Le Montrachet earlier this year by Stephane Petrossian and Philippe Der Megreditchian, co-managers of OLMA. Development of the 18th-century buildings will be in phases over the coming years, with the first phase involving the transformation of Villa Christine.
This launch adds to the brand’s other mainland European property COMO Castello Del Nero in Tuscany, as well as its two London hotels, COMO Metropolitan London and COMO The Halkin. The group also has 11 hotels across Turks & Caicos, Australia, Thailand, Bhutan, Indonesia and the Maldives.
