Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is to expand its portfolio in Egypt, including a new hotel in Luxor.
As part of a “multimillion-dollar expansion”, other investments include a hotel residential community in New Cairo Capital, and additional residences at the Four Seasons Resort and Private Residences Sharm El Sheikh, which has already been doubled in size recently, with new accommodations and dining outlets added.
Four Seasons Hotel Luxor will sit on the river Nile, located just south of the Luxor Temple, which dates back to 1,400 BC.
The property will be within reach of some of the world’s greatest ancient sites, with Luxor an open-air museum that is home to the ancient city of Thebes and the staggering Karnak and Luxor temple complexes.
Set to open in 2025, Four Seasons Hotel Luxor will include 200 guest rooms and suites, each with views of the the river Nile, the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens.
The hotel will have several restaurant and bar outlets, a spa, fitness facility, multiple pools, luxury retail, a Kids For All Seasons programme and a young adults centre.
WATG Architects, who created Four Seasons hotels in Maui, Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, Tianjin and a soon-to-come project in Hanoi, will lead the design of the building, with Wimberly Interiors overseeing the interiors, having previously worked on Four Seasons projects in Los Angeles and Maui.
“Egypt is an important destination in Four Seasons history, as it marked our brand’s entry into the Middle East 22 years ago. Our continued expansion illustrates our ongoing commitment to the region, and all that it has to offer for luxury travellers and homeowners,” said Bart Carnahan, president, global business development and portfolio management.
The Luxor hotel is being developed with Talaat Moustafa Group, with the portfolio expansion partnership in Egypt also including Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences New Cairo Capital at Madinaty.
The launch of that hotel puts the brand in the capital’s newest development, with the 346-room property opening in 2025 on 460 acres of parkland. The complex will also have 107 private villas and 80 luxury residences for sale.
The property is being designed by Pierre Yves-Rochon, whose previous work with Four Seasons has included Paris, Megeve, Bahrain Bay, Doha and Florence.
Gourmet restaurant and bar options will include a waterfront restaurant at the centre of the property with several private dining, alfresco, international and Egyptian-inspired outlets also available throughout the expansive property, along with a standalone spa and fitness facility.
The final investment of the three projects is to create 69 new Four Seasons Private Residences at Sharm El Sheikh, adding to the existing collection of 77.
The original resort opened there 20 years ago, but recent work has already seen it double in size, with it now also including 12 culinary concepts.
The developments join other group properties in the country, including Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence, Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza and Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano.
