New ‘nature-centric’ 1Hotel Mayfair is set to welcome guests to a prime London location early this summer and will be the first for the brand in the UK.
The UK and Europe flagship for SH Hotels & Resorts is set to open on Berkeley Street overlooking Green Park, with views across London’s skyline and local icons from its nine storeys.
Describing itself as ‘nature-centric’, the-181 room and suite hotel has retained more than 80% of the existing building’s structure during its renovation and reconstruction and used sustainably-sourced, reclaimed and recycled materials throughout.
Solar panels and large green walls further support its claim to be one of the most sustainable reuse developments in Mayfair. Rooms feature living moss walls, timber flooring crafted from fallen trees on the Windsor Estate and Welsh slate bathroom vanity units.
There are more than 200 plant species incorporated across the property and included in a new public space for use by the neighbourhood.

Other design elements include reclaimed Yorkshire dry stone walls, a reception desk crafted from one naturally felled piece of Sussex wood, a chandelier made from air plants, and sliding rattan panels. Original artworks such as a piece by marine-plastic artist Steve McPherson continue the sustainability theme.
The hotel’s Dovetale restaurant is the latest venture from Michelin-starred chef Tom Sellers and will incorporate a grill, a raw bar and an expansive wine programme.
A ‘Knickerbocker Glory trolley’ will enable the classic dessert to be made beside dining tables. There will also be an adjacent cocktail bar. A neighbourhood coffee shop and bar will also feature, with a communal wooden table.
The wellness area will include fitness facilities and three spa treatment rooms.
