Since opening in 2019 the hotel has monitored its supply chain and environmental footprint, while striving to create social impact. The B Corp accreditation follows Southwick Street’s Green Key certification in 2020.

A second Inhabit hotel opened in Queen’s Gardens last summer and is working towards the same goals.

The brand has partnered with London-based social enterprise Goldfinger, which produces bespoke furniture items and trains disadvantaged young people in woodwork through its academy.

It has also bought cushion covers, handcrafted products and toilet paper from socially conscious companies, with a goal to collaborate with at least 100 social enterprises by the end of 2023.

Inhabit is also moving to 100% LED lighting and using at least 50% renewable energy. HEPA air filtration systems on each floor in both hotels already reduce pollution and virus exposure for guests.

Inclusive recruitment

The group partners with organisations such as Women in Travel and Saira Hospitality to attract and train a more inclusive workforce. Employees can access mindfulness training among their development opportunities.

“This is a huge milestone for Inhabit and our first property, further strengthening our vision to be a brand that strives for change for good,” said Inhabit Hotels co-founders, Nadira and Rahim Lalji.

“We believe in enhancing green initiatives, reducing consumption levels and being a responsible business for all stakeholders. This latest impact report and certification from B Corp is just the beginning.

“It is a huge achievement to join the community with over 6,500 other like-minded brands and be part of this crucial movement”.

Inhabit Hotels are designed to provide a health-inducing urban sanctuary for busy travellers.

Guests at both London properties can access spa and wellness centre Inhale at Inhabit, which features treatments by GAIA Skincare, yoga classes and mindfulness sessions. The hotels each feature plant-based restaurants.
