Six Senses Comino will be located on the shores of San Niklaw and San Marija bays, on the site of the former Comino Hotel. Designed by Belvedere Architecture, the 71 low-rise suites at San Niklaw will overlook the bay, featuring double-aspect terraces on the upper two floors and infinity pools on the ground floor.

Guests will have exclusive access to San Niklaw bay, and the resort will feature a swimming pool and deck area served by a bar and grill. It will also offer a signature restaurant, destination bar and lobby bar. Children can use facilities at Grow With Six Senses, while the 1,000-square-metre Six Senses Spa will offer “locally inspired treatments, longevity therapies, and personalised wellness programmes”.

The resort will also run a range of guided retreats focused on dance, yoga and emotional and physical healing.

At Santa Marija the resort will consist of 19 standalone “retreats”, offering two to four bedrooms, with green roofing, a large garden and a secluded central courtyard with a private pool. Guests can use all of the resort facilities in San Niklaw, and will have a separate clubhouse featuring a restaurant and piazza.

The resort will be fully rebuilt within the existing area of the previous development, and Six Senses chief executive Neil Jacobs said: “We’re doing something unique within the Maltese hospitality landscape, which is to create a sumptuous and sustainable lifestyle resort on a reduced footprint to make way for new trees and shrubs and, therefore, a thriving environment for new guests and returning wildlife.”

The brand also made its Italian debut with the opening of the 96-key Six Senses Rome on 16 March. The property offers 12 types of rooms, including three signature suites.
