La Ciudadela Marbella to open hotel in Marbella’s old town
The hotel group La Ciudadela Marbella will open its fourth establishment, the Puerta de Ronda hotel, in Marbella’s old quarter in 2023.
The property will feature seven rooms, including one presidential suite, three junior suites and three deluxe doubles. Chief executive Miguel Cervan will oversee the interiors and design in each room, some of which will feature a garden and Jacuzzi.
Guests can expect 500-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, GHD hair straighteners and hair dryers and SMEG mini-fridges stocked with a variety of items, including locally made produce. Amenities will be by Hermes and Bvlgari.
The hotel will also have an interior patio and a rooftop area.
The Puerta de Ronda is inside the Plaza de Puerta de Ronda, which was one of the three entrances and exits of the city when it was fortified. It is believed to have been part of the old Muslim medina during the 12th century.
Cervan said he wanted Marbella’s historic centre to appeal to visitors who “are looking for much more than the typical sun and beach destination", and who want to delve into the history and modern day life of the city.
He continues: “[It’s] a Marbella in which I have grown up, which is not only a privileged geographical location with a unique climate, but is also a way of life.”
