The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) has expanded its collection with eight members, including three new properties and the group’s first hotels in Arizona and Belek.
The collection spans more than 400 independent luxury hotels, and the additions include the 151-room Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel, which opened at the start of 2023 in a 19th-century property on Nice’s boardwalk. It offers the Anantara Spa and the rooftop restaurant and bar Seen by Olivier from Portuguese chef Olivier da Costa.
Milan’s Casa Baglioni has joined after opening in February, featuring 30 rooms. Italian Michelin-starred chef Claudio Sadler is at the helm of the hotel’s destination restaurant, and a modernist wine cellar offers tastings of more than 850 Italian and international vintages.
The third new property – and LHW’s first in Arizona – is Ambiente, A Landscape Hotel, which made its debut in February. It offers 40 cubed-shaped minimalist atriums, made from bronzed glass and metal exteriors that reflect the surrounding landscape.
LHW’s first property in Belek is The Montgomerie Golf Club by Maxx Royal Resorts, which boasts family-friendly facilities, including tennis courts, multiple swimming pools, aquapark slides and the MaxxiLand wonderland for children.
Relais Santa Croce by Baglioni Hotels reopens in Florence in March and features original frescoed ceilings and lavishly furnished interiors in a renovated 18th-century noble mansion, with 24 rooms.
The collection has also been bolstered by the 81-key Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld in Tirol, which has undergone an extensive renovation and offers an expansive wellness area and access to cross-country skiing trails, snow shoeing and the Olympic-grade ski slopes of Seefield.
In Sicily guests can stay at Mazzaro Sea Palace, which has a private beach club, 70 rooms and a range of wellness programmes. They can head to the town centre of Taormina on the nearby cable car.
Finally, in Honolulu, Espacio The Jewel of Waikiki has been added, offering nine residences with their own butler service.
Deniz Omurgonulsen, LHW’s vice-president of membership, said: “2023 has started with strong momentum, following Leading Hotels’ banner year in 2022. The range of visionary new hotel openings and ambitious renovations show that the independent hotel sector is currently brimming with energy.
“Alongside exemplary design and delivery, luxury travellers are looking for unique in-destination concepts and unmatched experiences. Our carefully curated new members perfectly demonstrate these qualities.”
