Luxury hotel brand Mandarin Oriental is to open a new property in the Swiss city of Zurich in early 2024.
Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich will make its debut following a multi-million-dollar renovation of what was the city’s first grand hotel, which dates from 1838. It was formerly known as the Savoy Baur En Ville and has been closed since 2022 for the refurbishment project.
This will be the group’s third hotel in Switzerland. The Hong Kong-based hotel firm recruited Paris-based interior designer Tristan Auer to “merge historical details with modern style” at the renovated property.
There will be 44 rooms and 36 suites, many with their own balconies, terraces or private rooftops with views across the city and the Swiss Alps. Mandarin Oriental Savoy will also offer some of the largest suites in Zurich, including a four-bedroom apartment.
Dining venues include Orsini, from consultant chef Antonio Guida, who already runs the Michelin-starred Seta restaurant at Mandarin Oriental, Milan. Other options include the Savoy Brasserie & Bar for all-day dining and cocktails, as well as the Mandarin Lounge and the 1838 rooftop bar.
Mandarin Oriental Savoy is now taking bookings for stays from 1 March 2024 according to the company’s website. The hotel is offering a Be the First to Stay package for its first guests including benefits such as daily breakfast and a dining credit of up to $150.
The luxury group now has 37 hotels and nine residences in 25 countries. It is also due to open its second property in London later this year when the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair in Hanover Square makes its debut.
Forming part of TTG Luxury's Day of Luxury, the new-look TTG Luxury Travel Summit will return on the afternoon of Friday 3 November at the stunning Kimpton Fitzroy, London.
