The 324-room Mondrian Hong Kong, located in the Tsim Sha Tsui neighbourhood, marks the group’s first location in Greater China.
With 12 two-bay suites and views of Victoria Harbour, the Karin Krautgartner-designed hotel offers MTR access and is minutes from the West Kowloon Cultural District.
Carna, the property’s flagship restaurant, serves nose-to-tail Tuscan steak under the guidance of eighth-generation butcher Dario Cecchini. The steakhouse was designed by Joyce Wang.
The 38th floor cocktail bar, Avoca, is set to host local DJs alongside bespoke cocktails, and the 40th floor is home to a rooftop hosting space, designed for parties and performances.
Tony Yeung, chief executive of owning company, Peterson Group, summarised the mission behind the new venture: “I am very proud that after two years of extensive transformation in partnership with Mondrian, we can now reveal and launch Mondrian Hong Kong, a captivating luxury lifestyle brand that seamlessly combines the next generation of hospitality with an unwavering dedication to social responsibility.”
The drive for social responsibility was evident in the hotel’s launch campaign. In partnership with the Hong Kong Single Parents Association, Mondrian Hong Kong offered local single-parent families a complimentary one-night stay, alongside giftbags and tickets to the nearby M+ museum.
Dirk Dalichau, Mondrian Hong Kong’s general manager, described how the group “wanted to throw our doors open to some of Hong Kong’s most deserving families, by simply giving them a small break away from the daily pressures.”
“The brilliance of the Mondrian brand is in its allure as a destination for locals as well as travellers,” said Gaurav Bhushan, co-chief executive of Mondrian’s holding company, Ennismore. “This is where the power of lifestyle hospitality lies – the ability to invite an energizing mix of the community and the world beyond.”
Mondrian is offering early bookers an introductory offer, including one night in a suite, a welcome package, cocktails at Avoca and two tickets to the M+ museum.
