Aethos will offer guests the opportunity to hit the waves with a professional female surfer when it opens its latest property this September, near Portugal’s surf mecca, Ericeira.
At Aethos Ericeira, the hotel and club brand has partnered with big-wave pro surfer Joana Andradwith, who is the first and only Portuguese woman to surf the towering Nazare waves. She will run the in-house surf coaching, and guests will be offered two complimentary group surf lessons per week.
Additional coaching sessions for families and groups can also be booked, and there’s a gym designed for surfers.
The hotel’s surf concierge service will provide daily recommendations and information about the best surfing spot, the tides, and how guests can access the latest forecast on their phones.
The 50-room property opens on 1 September and is located on the top of a cliff overlooking the Atlantic. It’s housed in a former farmhouse and has been designed with Astet Studio in Barcelona and Portuguese architect Luis Pedra Silva.
Dining includes Onda, the hotel’s casual fine dining restaurant overlooking the ocean. It serves contemporary coastal cuisine, using products from local farms and fresh fish and seafood from the region.
The wellness offerings include a spa with a hammam, sauna and therapeutic massages, yoga and meditation classes and a gym.
Complimentary bicycles and beach buggies will allow guests to discover the property’s surroundings and nearby bike paths and beaches.
