London’s hotel scene is to grow again, with the arrival of a hotel, private members’ club and all-day restaurant on Grosvenor Square.
Set to open in Q1 2022, The Twenty Two is being created within a Grade II-listed Edwardian manor at number 22 on the square in Mayfair.
The project is spearheaded by hospitality entrepreneur, hotelier and tech investor, Navid Mirtorabi, who recently founded plant-based dining concept Humble in Chelsea, co-founded Lunaz Design – Classic Electrical Cars and has invested in travel club, Little Emperors, as well as previously owning Blakes, the iconic boutique hotel in west London.
The team will be led by Darius Namdar, who helped launch Chiltern Firehouse in 2014, was then part of the launch team at The Beaumont Hotel, Mayfair, before joining Mark’s Club as club director; he will oversee The Twenty Two as managing director.
“We want to redefine the traditional Mayfair hotel and club by bringing a new community to this iconic part of the city and to create a space where people can come together and feel welcome, regardless of where they come from, what their profession is and what they wear,” said Mirtorabi.
Designed by Natalia Miyar and Bambi Sloan as a consultant on the project, The Twenty Two will house 31 bedrooms and suites, including a mews house.
The restaurants will be overseen by chef Alan Christie, with the private members’ club featuring an all-day lounge space with a bar, a terrace overlooking Grosvenor Square, and an evening dining room with a covered terrace as well as a cocktail bar.
