The second virtual Regenerative Travel Summit will be held over three days in September when it will examine how to improve the positive impact of tourism on communities around the world.
The online event will take place from 20-22 September, with TTG Luxury as one of its media partners, and will be focusing on “trailblazing concepts and models to showcase how we can harness travel to regenerate community and place”.
Regenerative Travel Summit, which forms part of Climate Week NYC, will feature a range of speakers, including Alex Reynolds, founder of Lost with Purpose, Anna Pollock, from Conscious Travel, and Beks Ndlovu, founder of African Bush Camps, across its three days, which will also encompass panels and “fireside” chats.
“Through the 2021 Summit we are looking to the future of tourism and our collective responsibility to not just ‘future proof’ but to ensure we harness the industry’s potential to contribute positively to the economic, social and environmental wealth of destinations through transitioning to regenerative models,” said Amanda Ho, co-founder of Regenerative Travel.
“We will be providing a platform to individuals driving change, showcasing tangible solutions, decoding the language of regeneration and ‘whole-systems thinking’ and inspiring a move beyond tokenism to real activism that creates abundance for all stakeholders.”
Last year’s online event attracted more than 2,000 delegates to listen to more than 40 speakers with a focus on how the global industry can “move beyond sustainability to regeneration”, including ways to tackle the climate crisis and make the necessary systemic changes.
O’Shannon Burns, eco-system steward for Regenerative Travel, added: “It is a critical moment for the tourism industry, with more people than ever before interested in the regenerative travel movement.
“Through the 2021 Summit, we want to embrace this growing community, highlight the wonderful diversity of perspectives on regeneration and encourage action.
“Our hope is that by empowering changemakers and focusing on useful tools that can move our industry forward, we can continue to shift the traditional way of thinking about travel to more regenerative models.”
