More business owners have joined Travel Counsellors in the past eight months than in the whole of last year, the homeworking giant has revealed – a spike in recruitment driven, in part, by a significant uptick in new starters who are returning to travel after leaving the industry during the pandemic.
Travel Counsellors on Monday (7 August) revealed it has grown by 25% year-on-year in terms of membership numbers after taking on more than 200 new business owners since November 2022, a third of whom are returning to the travel industry for the first time since the pandemic.
“It’s brilliant to see the record number of new Travel Counsellors we have joining the community as travel continues to boom,” said general manager Matt Harding.
In the past week alone, 14 new business owners have joined Travel Counsellors, including recruits from the luxury travel sector, as well as corporate travel specialists.
Elsewhere, the company has over the past few months also seen a surge business travel specialists wanting to set up their businesses through Travel Counsellors, with 20 such new ventures joining the group.
Harding put the successful recruitment drive down to Travel Counsellors’ highly “scalable” business model. “To achieve our record growth, we need to ensure we are recruiting the highest calibre talent for both leisure and business travel who share our core values and culture,” he added.
Karen Thornton, who joined Travel Counsellors in 2020 after 30 years in travel, added: “The support I have had from Travel Counsellors, making the switch to working for myself, has been invaluable and it is incredible to have the latest market leading technology at my fingertips.”
Earlier this year, Travel Counsellors revealed a rebrand ahead of its 30th anniversary year next year.
