It’s been a long time coming, but The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection has finally arrived with the launch of the first of three yachts to join its portfolio. TTG reports from onboard
With a sleek structure that looks like a private yacht on the outside, Evrima is a beauty.
Unfolding over 190 metres and 11 decks, there are 149 suites, six restaurants, a sprawling spa, and a series of living spaces that includes the 10th-floor light-filled Observation Lounge with floor-to-ceiling bifold windows that open the space up to panoramic views.
“With the continued growth of the luxury cruise market, creating The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection provided an exciting opportunity to carve out an exclusive space within the industry,” explains Douglas Prothero, chief executive of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection.
“With a brand such as The Ritz-Carlton, which is already synonymous with land-based luxury, guests can easily identify with the ethos and experience offered at sea,” he tells me. “They know what to expect before they even step onboard – and the notion that we can bring people into cruising who would have never considered it before is very exciting.”
Indeed, cleaving close to the Ritz-Carlton brand, Evrima not only delivers on service – with around 260 employees it has one of the highest staff-to-guest ratios at sea – but its design is comfortingly “Ritz-Carlton”, with lots of high-end finishes and thoughtful touches, from leather details to softly concealed lighting.
The work of Tillberg Design of Sweden, together with the Marriott International Global Design Team, the mood is understated, refined and sophisticated, meeting with the brief to create the residential feeling of being on a private yacht.
This is further highlighted by its artwork, which comprises a total of 430 pieces and is made up of a mixture of permanent installations alongside a rotating exhibition – available to purchase – that changes according to the yacht’s itinerary.
The former is made up of specially commissioned pieces, such as an installation by ceramic artist Mo Cornelisse, and a statement painting by Agneta Ekholm, which takes up the entire back wall of The Evrima Room.
One of the yacht’s six restaurants, here the menu changes to reflect the cultures of each destination, while elsewhere is Talaat Nam, which serves up south-east Asian fare and S.E.A., an offering from chef Sven Elverfeld of Aqua, the three Michelin-starred restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton in Wolfsburg.
Together with the indulgent spa and the marina, which offers non-motorised sports, Evrima is the perfect base to return to after a day spent immersing yourself in curated shore experiences along the Mediterranean coast or the Caribbean.
