Sanctuary Retreats will open its latest safari camp Sanctuary Tambarare in Kenya this summer – the operator’s second property in the country.
The new camp, which looks out over the 90,000-acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy, will feature just 10 tents for guests when it opens on 1 June.
The spacious 57sqm tents will include teak floors, Masai-inspired artworks and a private veranda overlooking the surrounding grassy plains.
Guests can explore Ol Pejeta on daily game drives to see the fabled big five game animals, including its population of 130 black rhinos, as well as cheetahs, hyena and hippos. There is also the opportunity to take part in night safari drives, lion tracking and bush walks.
Sanctuary Tambarare will feature a dining tent, as well as a bar tent with a deck for guests to enjoy a “sundowner” while soaking in their surroundings.
Other options include the chance to visit nearby communities to meet local people and see how the conservancy is helping to develop projects around healthcare, sustainable energy and community enterprise.
Rates at Sanctuary Tambarare start from £600 per person per night including all meals. This price excludes the conservancy’s fees.
