Country file: The Langley could be the UK hotel of the summer

The Langley is scheduled to open its doors on Saturday (1 June) after a six-year, multi-million pound renovation.

Part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection, the historic property will offer 41 rooms spread across the Duke of Marlborough’s former hunting lodge and the neighbouring Grade II-listed Brew House.

The main Langley Park House is a “grand Palladian” mansion set within Capability Brown-designed gardens and rooms include the three-bedroom Duke of Marlborough Suite.

Other facilities include a subterranean spa, which will be run in partnership with Sisley, featuring a lounge, private VIP suite, vitality pools, hammams, sauna, steam room and 16-metre marble-lined indoor pool. The hotel’s gym has been developed in association with fitness specialist and celebrity personal trainer Matt Roberts.

The hotel will also offer a destination restaurant, Cedar, which will offer menus created using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.

Other public spaces include the Drawing Room for afternoon tea, while the Churchill Bar will offer cocktails, cognacs and cigars. The main house also offers a private film screening room for up to six people and a kitchen for cookery classes.

Another feature will be the 19th-century Winter Garden, which has been restored as part of the redevelopment and is available for weddings and events.
