Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway was among VIP guests at the opening of Bulgari Hotel Tokyo this week.
Occupying the top six floors of an ultra-skyscraper in the Yaesu 2-Chome North District, the property is Bulgari Hotels & Resorts’ first in Japan.
Designed by Milan-based architectural studio Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, responsible for all eight Bulgari Hotels and Resorts to date, the 98 rooms and suites have contemporary Italian furnishings alongside locally-produced baskets and bedspreads.
Black granite bathrooms are accessed through sliding doors inspired by typical Japanese houses.
Floor to ceiling windows give sweeping views of the city, including the Imperial Palace Gardens, Tokyo Bay, and Mount Fuji on the horizon.
The public spaces meanwhile feature Italian marble, elm wood portals and mosaics inspired by traditional Japanese fabric patterns.
Bulgari Hotels & Resorts signature Il Ristorante – Niko Romito is complemented by sushi restaurant Hoseki, the relaxed Bulgari Lounge, chocolate boutique Bulgari Dolci, and the Bulgari Bar, which incorporates two half-covered outdoor terraces.
A 25-metre swimming pool features in the 40th floor spa, along with a smaller pool, single and double treatment rooms, a spa suite and custom-designed wooden cabanas.
Bulgari Group CEO, Jean-Christophe Babin, said: “We are proud to add a new gem to the crown of the Bulgari Hotels & Resorts collection with the opening of Bulgari Hotel Tokyo in Japan, a market that has been a strategic market for us for over 30 years.”
The hotel’s general manager Yuji Tanaka added: “I look forward to leading my team of world-class professionals to deliver the impeccable service for which the Italian jeweller of the hotel industry is rightly famous.”
