The Lux Collective has opened a new luxury beachfront resort on the tropical island of Zanzibar in Tanzania, marking the company’s first foray into east Africa.
Lux Marijani Marijani sits on a wide white sand beach in the north-east of the island featuring 82 suites and rooms arranged inside Omani-style white villas with arched doorways, balconies and terraces decorated with locally-made terrazzo tiles and hand-carved wooden doors.
A large pool is the resort centrepiece with a family area and fitness centre located alongside. The new resort has several dining options serving local gourmet and international dishes including The Beach, Cafe Lux and al fresco dinner venue Samaa. Menus feature plant-based, vegan and locally-sourced food as part of the resort’s Keen on Green concept.
Wellness experiences at the full-service Lux Me Spa will include forest bathing and yoga on a tidal sandbank. An Extraordinary Experiences programme also gives guests the opportunity to take guided tours of Zanzibar’s Unesco-listed capital Stone Town and the island’s other historical sites, as well as taking a traditional dhow cruise or hiking nature trails.
“We are privileged and excited to partner with the ZK Venture Company in Zanzibar to operate this five-star boutique beach resort, raising its luxury quotient and service to yet another level,” said The Lux Collective’s CEO Paul Jones. “This marks the start of our meaningful partnership in the region of east Africa where the tourism potential is limitless.”
The brand’s portfolio includes 18 hotels in Mauritius, the Maldives, Ile de la Reunion, China and now Tanzania.
