Marriott International’s The Luxury Collection is to offer its first all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic through an agreement with existing property Sanctuary Cap Cana.
The adults-only Caribbean resort, which is managed by Playa Hotels & Resorts, will be rebranded as Sanctuary Cap Cana, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort this summer. It will be the first Playa-managed resort to operate under a Marriott brand.
The 325-room Sanctuary Cap Cana, which was renovated in 2019, features five restaurants, six bars, five pools and the Sanctuary Town nightclub venue.
Laurent de Kousemaeker, chief development officer, Caribbean and Latin America, at Marriott International, said: “We are thrilled to bring our first The Luxury Collection all-inclusive brand extension to the Dominican Republic.
“We are also excited for the opportunity to work with Playa Hotels & Resorts, a very reputable all-inclusive operator.”
Marriott International entered the all-inclusive market in 2019 and currently has 28 of these properties across seven of its brands. The Luxury Collection includes 123 hotels around the world.
Fernando Mulet, executive vice-president and chief investment officer at Playa Hotels & Resorts, added: “In our first joint venture with Marriott International, Sanctuary Cap Cana is the perfect choice for the level of style and sophistication that has made Marriott’s The Luxury Collection resorts the standard bearer for unique, one-of-a-kind vacations."
