The Peninsula Hotels will make donations for each guest through its Hope for Turkey fundraising initiative, to support victims of the devastating earthquakes in Turkey.
From now until 31 December 2023, for every night guests spend with The Peninsula Hotels the group will donate €10 to its Hope for Turkey campaign. The funds will be given to non-profit and government-funded organisations providing resources and investment to redevelop areas heavily affected by the two earthquakes that hit Turkey on 6 February.
The properties involved in the fundraising initiative include those in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, New York, Chicago, London, Istanbul, Bangkok, and Manila. Each hotel will also offer opportunities for guests to make contributions to charitable organisations where funds go directly to the victims.
The Peninsula Hotels has previously run “Hope For” charitable campaigns to support people impacted by natural disasters in Japan and the Philippines.
Peter Borer, chief operating officer of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Ltd., owner and operator of The Peninsula Hotels, said: “With deep sadness, some of our employees and their families have been directly impacted by the Kahramanmaras earthquakes; our thoughts and prayers are with them and all of those affected by this unthinkable disaster. It is our hope that collectively, our hotels and our guests from around the world will come together in Turkey’s time of need.”
