The Safari Collection in Kenya has launched a new helicopter safari experience giving guests the chance to explore remote and wild areas in the north of the country.
The trips in a Eurocopter helicopter, currently based at the Sasaab tented camp, will be available from the collection’s four lodges.
The aerial excursion gives visitors the chance to see wildlife, mountains, lakes and ancient forests in the Samburu area, which is classed as “one of the world’s last real wildernesses”.
Guests can fly over the Ewaso Nyiro river to see wildlife such as the endangered Grevy’s zebra and take in the views of the solitary Ololokwe mountain rising 2,000 metres from the plains.
Other highlights include visiting the remote Pokot community and flying east over Mount Silali, the largest caldera volcano in the Great Rift Valley.
Rates for The Safari Collection’s Heli-Excursions are available on request and based on guest’s chosen excursion.
As well as Sasaab, the helicopter excursions are available from Solio Lodge, Sala’s Camp and Nairobi’s Giraffe Manor.
