The TTG Luxury Travel Awards will make a glittering comeback in 2022 with new categories, new entry processes and a chance for companies across the luxury spectrum to share their stories and ultimately celebrate their passion, achievements and hard work – in style.
Known for their popular Friday afternoon format, the awards will take place on 4 March at Rosewood London, allowing plenty of time after the ceremony for guests, colleagues and peers to continue the celebrations and connections.
There are now six agent categories, including the new category of Luxury Cruise Agent of the Year (individual), created to recognise the tremendous hard work and focus of agents who put a great deal of energy into the cruise market.
Suppliers, meanwhile, will be able to enter one of six categories covering all key areas of service and product delivery.
Also new for this year, is Sustainability Hero of the Year. This important award can be entered by anyone currently working in luxury travel, agent or supplier, and will be given to an individual, no matter their role in the company. Ultimately, this award will recognise someone seen to be really driving change in both their own business and the sector.
“After taking a break during the pandemic, the search for the best luxury agents and suppliers starts again now, and we can’t wait to hear how resilient and brilliant the community has been during these testing times,” said April Hutchinson, editor, TTG Luxury.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Silversea as our headline sponsor to bring this glamorous event back to our luxury community, and cannot wait to celebrate with everyone at Rosewood London, our regular and welcoming home for the awards.”
Entries are now open, and for the first time since launching the awards, all potential winners will now complete an online submission form. Entries must be submitted by 3 December and the shortlist will be revealed on 10 January.
“Given the turbulent period the industry has been through, we wanted to give all companies and individual entrants a platform to share their stories of resilience, innovation and customer care during the pandemic, and to tell us how they are recovering and hope to thrive in the coming months,” added Hutchinson.
“We will not necessarily be looking for tales of financial success, more about how businesses took care of staff, clients and communities; how they adapted their business in the face of adversity, and still managed to shine; and how they are working to be a Smarter, Better, Fairer travel company, in line with TTG’s own brand purpose.”
Supplier categories will all now be based on submissions, with the winners decided via expert judging panels, each of which will include leading luxury agents.
As before, all agents in the running will complete an entry form online and be judged by a panel of industry experts. All shortlisted agents will then receive one complimentary ticket each to attend the awards on Friday 4 March, 2022.
In addition to the above categories to enter, the Contribution to Luxury Travel will also be announced during the awards ceremony. This is given to recognise an outstanding individual who has driven huge change in the sector, is a known and respected innovator, or is revered as a shining example of a leader in luxury travel.
This category is the choice of the TTG Luxury editorial team, and past recipients have included Justin Wateridge of Steppes; Matthew Upchurch of Virtuoso; and sustainability champion and hotel designer Bill Bensley.
