Abta has revealed its 2025 Travel Convention will be held in Calvia, Majorca, between 6-8 October.
The travel association’s decision to bring its convention to Majorca will help raise awareness about the need for co-existence between tourists and residents, Majorcan tourism councillor Jose Marcial Rodriguez Diaz said.
“It represents a boost to the policies promoted by the Majorca Council in favour of responsible tourism,” he added.
“Responsible tourism is more than just a goal; it is the horizon we set to ensure the co-existence of tourists and residents.
“Events like the one Abta will hold in Majorca next year will greatly help us achieve this.”
Last summer thousands of local residents took to the streets to protest against mass tourism on the island.
However, the island is of vital importance to the UK industry, and Majorca is the only destination to have hosted an Abta Travel Convention in every decade since the 1970s.
Mark Tanzer, Abta chief executive, said: “I am delighted that we will be returning to Majorca for the 2025 Travel Convention.
“With its rich and evolving tourism offering and high popularity among UK holidaymakers, Majorca is an incredibly important destination for the UK travel trade.”
He added: “I’m looking forward to showcasing this outstanding venue to our delegates next year and would like to thank the hosts for welcoming us once again.”
Registration is due to open in spring next year.
