Aida Cruises has been forced to postpone its plans to restart operations early this month.
Carnival Corp’s German cruise brand had planned to operate short cruises with ships AIDAperla and AIDAmar starting Wednesday (5 August) after developing what it described as "comprehensive concepts" for the restart and implementing "increased hygiene standards and measures" across both ships.
However, these sailings have been postponed with Aida still awaiting approval to resume operations from flag state Italy.
"We very much regret this delay," said the line in a statement issued on Monday morning (3 August). "We would have loved to welcome our guests back on board from 5 August.
"We assume that we will receive the last formal approval by the flag state Italy in a timely manner. All guests whose trip cannot take place as originally scheduled will be informed immediately."
