Ambassador Cruise Line has promoted Karen Cameron to the role of deputy head of trade.
Cameron, who joined the no-fly cruise line in February 2023 as divisional sales manager – north, will take up her new role on 1 July.
She will be tasked with maximising sales from existing trade partners, and ensuring they have the support and tools they need. In addition, she will also manage various specific accounts and key partnerships.
Cameron will report into Ambassador’s head of distribution, Nicola Harper.
Her near 30-year career in travel saw her start as a YTS trainee before spells with Stewart Travel, Barrhead Travel and Thomas Cook, during which time she progressed into management roles.
At Carnival UK, she worked across P&O Cruises, Cunard and Princess Cruises as regional manager for the north, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and joined Ambassador after a stint with Haven as regional head of experience.
Ambassador has confirmed it will recruit a like replacement for Cameron to support agents in her old patch – the North, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
"Since joining the Ambassador family in early 2023, Karen has done a truly amazing job, going above and beyond the call of duty in creating and fostering partnerships with our agent partners," said Harper. "She is absolutely ready to take on this key role in the business."
Ambassador advertised the deputy head of trade role internally and externally, but Harper said it quickly became clear "the outstanding candidate was one Ambassador already had in-house".
She added agent relationships had never been more important as the line continues to grow. "I look forward to working with Karen as we continue to develop a brand and a business that stands head and shoulders above our nearest competitors in the UK cruise market."
