Crystal Cruises’ two ocean-going vessels will go to auction next month after they were put up for sale in the latest of a series of steps in the liquidation of parent company Genting Hong Kong, according to the Maritime Executive.
Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony have remained in Freeport in the Bahamas since the cruise line ceased operations in January 2022 as part of the broader financial collapse of Genting Hong Kong.
Management of the ships, as well as expedition vessel Crystal Endeavor, was handed over to V.Ships after the vessels were arrested on behalf of the banks that held mortgages on them and their creditors.
Inspections of the vessels are ongoing with bids due to the Supreme Court Commercial Division in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas by 7 June. The winning bidder, if one is selected, will reportedly be notified by 14 June.
They would then have seven days to complete the acquisition and take possession of the ships on an "as is, where is" basis.
TTG has approached V.Ships for comment.
