Birmingham airport is set to gain a new Stockholm service next year.
Germany’s Eurowings has announced it will offer a Birmingham route from its new Stockholm base.
Flights are due to get under way in the spring, starting in late-March 2022.
Eurowings will base five Airbus A320 aircraft at Stockholm, with the city becoming its 11th European base.
It will offer "around 20" destinations from Stockholm; besides Birmingham, these include a mix of sunny southern European destinations such as Palma, Alicante, Malaga, Faro and Nice, as well as city destinations such as Berlin, Barcelona, Rome and Copenhagen.
Additional destinations will be announce in the coming "few weeks", said Eurowings on Tuesday (9 November).
The carrier said it was recruiting for an initial 100 members of cabin crew and 50 pilots to operate the base.
