A family-run agency has marked its 50th birthday with a visit from its founder, now in her 90s.
Liphook Travel in Hampshire was established by Jean Meech in 1971 and is now run by her son Andrew and his sister Frances Cloude.
“Frances started in 1975 and I started in 1982 and we were one of the founders of Worldchoice,” Andrew said.
He said the business, a member of Worldchoice and Aito, had earned some loyal clients that had given “some great bookings” over the years.

“People that have moved away have stayed with us; we have clients all over the place now.”
The agency furloughed full-time staff members Trudy Lee and Hollie Munro during the pandemic, but both are now back.
“We came through it as well as we could; our clients appreciated the level of service we gave them and we refunded as fast as we could,” Meech added.
Covid meant celebrations were kept low-key, with clients being given cake, but Meech said he planned to revive the agency’s local Holiday Show event next year to properly mark the occasion.
