Finnair’s new Mumbai route, launching on Saturday (6 August), has been "timed to allow for easy connections" with services to and from major UK and Irish airports.
The three-times-weekly Helsinki-Mumbai route will operate Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays before increasing to a four-times-weekly service in November operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Finnair will operate the route, its second to India, using a two-class Airbus A330 offering business or economy. Return London flights lead in from £481 (economy) or £1,505 (business).
Flights depart Helsinki at 5.55pm arriving Mumbai at 5.15am (+1). Returns depart Mumbai at 7.10am arriving Helsinki at 2.05pm.
The Finnish carrier said services "have been specifically times to allow for easy connections" with major UK and Irish airports including Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin.
It claims transfers at Helsinki could be as short as 35 minutes with all services operating from the same terminal.
Finnair operates daily Helsinki flights from London and Dublin, and regular services from Manchester and Edinburgh.
Sakari Romu, Finnair general manager for India, said: “We are very excited to start our operations from Mumbai. Our three-weekly flights serve our customers not only in providing a connection to Finland but also to our network in the US and major European cities."
