Jet2.com and Jet2holidays boss Steve Heapy has said he is "very confident" travel will "get back to how it looked" prior to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2022.
Heapy, who hailed the UK government for taking "meaningful action" to get travel "back and up running", said pent-up demand for travel over the past two years has translated into a "surge in bookings" for the airline and operator.
"Over the past two years we have said that demand would come roaring back once travel started to return to normal, and that is very much the case," he added.
"There is strong demand right across the board, for all seasons, all destinations and all types of package holiday.
"Looking at the February half-term, for example, we have a programme of very busy flights taking off to destinations across the Mediterranean, Canary Islands and best ski resorts in Europe, and bookings have been flying in over the past few weeks."
His comments come as Jet2.com and Jet2holidays claimed a 30% spike in bookings taken over the last four weeks for the February half-term compared to the same time in 2020.
This uptake has been driven by "strong demand" for holidays to the Canary Islands, Spain and Portugal, as well as ski flights to Geneva, Grenoble, Lyon, Chambery, Lyon, Innsbruck, Salzburg and Barcelona.
In addition, the airline and operator also reported high demand for summer 2022 as customers "make up for missing out" on the previous two summers.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has more capacity on sale for this summer compared to summer 2019, with popular destinations including Spain, the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Portugal and Italy.
