JetBlue is "perfectly placed to work closely with UK agents", its UK boss has said, now the carrier has expanded its trade team in readiness for a significant extension of its fledgling transatlantic service.
Maris Kuklis has been appointed senior sales manager, and will work alongside fellow senior sales manager Claire Herbert to develop JetBlue’s trade partnerships and sales. Kuklis joins JetBlue from Etihad Airways where he oversaw trade sales for the Gulf carrier’s leisure and MICE markets.
His appointment comes as JetBlue prepares to launch Gatwick-Boston and Heathrow-Boston services in September. It currently operates daily to New York JFK from Gatwick and Heathrow, with the Gatwick service to expand to twice-daily in late-October.
Maja Gedosev, JetBlue general manager Europe, said: “We are very happy to have Maris with us. Together with Claire, they make a strong team which is key to any success.
"We have come a long way in just a year. From a single daily operation to soon five daily flights across the Atlantic. I am confident we are now perfectly positioned to work closely with the UK travel agents to further grow awareness of the JetBlue brand and our transatlantic product and services.
"We like to disrupt, and by doing so, we bring value to our customers and partners we work with so stay tuned for more updates soon."
