A London airport is facing further threat of strike action this summer after ground handlers announced plans to walkout in an ongoing dispute over pay and working conditions.
Passengers flying with Wizz Air from Luton airport have been warned by the Unite union to brace themselves for "substantial" delays and disruption after workers employed by its ground handler GH London announced industrial action following a collapse in relations.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: "GH London’s conduct is appalling; workers deserve to be treated with dignity and respect in the workplace and the company’s behaviour falls far below that standard.
"Unite always puts the jobs, pay and conditions of its members first and the workers at GH London will be receiving the union’s unflinching support."
Unite claimed it has been attempting to resolve these problems through negotiations, but accused GH London of failing to heed the union’s concerns.
More than 80 members of the union will stage three initial days of strike action, with the first 24-hour walkout set to take place on Wednesday 30 August followed by further action on 6 September and 13 September.
