A man has been arrested following a "suspected bomb hoax" onboard a Jet2.com flight to Manchester earlier this week.
Owing to a "security threat", Jet2.com flight LS922 from Dalaman was intercepted by RAF Typhoons on Wednesday evening (12 October) and diverted to Stansted where it was met by officers from Essex Police.
Officers quickly established there was no threat onboard. Jet2 apologised to passengers for any inconvenience or upset, and said it was acting in accordance with direction of UK authorities.
The case has now been passed to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), which confirmed to TTG on Friday (14 October) a man in his thirties had been arrested.
"We are treating the incident as a suspected bomb hoax and initial enquiries into the full circumstances are under way," said a spokesperson for GMP.
The suspect has since been released under investigation, the spokesperson added.
