Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has donated $100,000 to a relief fund for Ukrainian children amid the escalating crisis in the country following Russia’s invasion.
The line, which employs 800-900 staff from Ukraine, has also extended the contracts of its Ukrainian workers after they were unable to return home due to the conflict.
"We wanted to help in any way we could," NCL’s president and chief executive Harry Sommer told TTG.
"We employ 800 to 900 Ukrainian workers across our fleet, and we have extended their contracts so they can continue to work and earn money, send money home to their families and loved ones, while they are unable to return home for obvious reasons," he added.
"We are doing our best to support them and give them financial aid while they need it the most."
Meanwhile, Royal Caribbean International, which currently has 500 Ukrainian employees, has made a fund worth $2 million for families in need.
