Rishi Sunak has assigned responsibility for aviation at the Department for Transport to Anthony Browne following the departure of Baroness Vere to the Treasury.
This week’s government reshuffle led to three MPs, including Browne, joining the transport department.
South Cambridgeshire MP Browne was previously chief executive for the British Banking Association.
Following the publication of the UK government’s Fraud Strategy, he was appointed as the first Prime Minister’s Anti-Fraud Champion.
In his new ministerial role, he will have responsibility for aviation, transport decarbonisation, air quality, technology including autonomous vehicles, and aviation accessibility.
The maritime brief, which was also held by Baroness Vere, has been taken over by Lord Davies of Gower, president of the Welsh Conservative Party.
The DfT tweeted on X/Twitter: “We are pleased to welcome Lord Davies of Gower @Byron Davies who has been appointed as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Transport.”
