A new budget Stansted-Orlando flight will launch in the autumn, with a connection in Iceland.
Icelandic budget carrier Play will offer the link via Reykjavik. However, travel will take more than 12 hours in both directions. The first flight will depart on 30 September, with hand luggage-only fares from an introductory £149 one way.
Services to Orlando International will operate until 23 April 2023 on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays with a travel time, including layover, of 12 hours 40 minutes. Flights from Orlando to Stansted will run on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, taking 12 hours 15 minutes.
Play chief executive Birgir Jonsson said: “Play is strategically growing its presence in the United States, and our decision to add the addition of this route to our winter schedule is driven by increasing consumer confidence in and demand for affordable travel.
“We anticipate this route to be popular with European passengers, particularly from Scandinavia, seeking to escape the cold winter to experience Florida’s popular parks and resorts, as well as with American travellers visiting Europe to see family for the holidays or to tour festivals and winter attractions.”
Introductory fares are based on round trip bookings and available until 27 February. One-way fares after this lead in at £169.
