Two of Britain’s top Olympians have teamed up with Haven to mark the launch of a new £13.5 million investment at its Hafan y Mor holiday park – the single largest investment in the park’s history.
Welsh cycling heroes – Olympic gold medallist Owain Doull and two-times Olympic silver medallist Becky James – pedalled their way around the park’s new Dragon Lakes Adventure Village, which features 4x4 off-roaders; a climbing wall; segway, bike and kart hire; aerial and mini aerial adventure activities; and a boating lake.
The outdoor activity zone is among extensive additions to Hafan y Mor, which have created more than 100 job opportunities at the park.
“The adventure village is incredible,” said James. “There are so many different activities, giving you the chance to be as active as you like on holiday.”
Doull added: “It’s fantastic to see so many children feeling encouraged to get involved in new sports and activities in such a fun and exciting way.”
Other additions include the park’s new Coast House bar and grill; the Cakery, serving up giant slices to share, as well as ice creams and coffee; the family-friendly HMS Glendower pub; and wood-fired pizza at the Pizza Deck.
There is also a fully refurbished owners’ club and garden, exclusive to holiday home owners, with its own restaurant.
Andrew Baker, Hafan y Mor general manager, added the adventure village is the first of its kind in Wales and would become a new centrepiece of the park.
“Owain and Becky were the perfect pair to help launch our developments to our guests, team and owners,” said Baker.
“They have had massive sporting success in their lives and are so inspirational for those trying new sporting activities at Hafan y Mor.”
