On the Beach has ambushed a fashion show by luxury brand Chanel with a cheeky mobile poster ad, urging people to splash their hard-earned cash on holidays rather than handbags.
As Timothee Chalamet, Kristen Stewart and David and Victoria Beckham arrived in Manchester’s Northern Quarter for the Metiers d’Art event, so did On the Beach’s ad van.
Featuring an expensive Chanel bag, the advert read: “This bag’s £5,093 cheaper in Turkey. (May as well get some sun while you’re there too)”
The advert referred to the many markets in the destination where fake designer bags can be purchased. It was also displayed on a large outdoor digital billboard along the route many of the show’s stars took to the event.
Zoe Harris, On the Beach chief customer officer said: “Our head office is in Manchester, so when we heard Chanel were coming to town, we couldn’t help but get involved.
"Let’s be honest, what would you rather have, a Chanel bag or a couple of two-week, all-inclusive holidays to Turkey, New York or Dubai?”
