P&O Ferries has axed its plans to restart a number of key ferry routes this weekend, just a couple of days after it said it was ready to get them going again.
The line’s services have been suspended since it sacked nearly 800 of its UK seafarers last month and sought to replace them with lower paid agency workers instead.
On Wednesday (6 April), P&O Ferries said it was ready to restart several "vital services" at the weekend, including its Dover-Calais route.
However, on Friday morning (8 April), the line tweeted: "All P&O Ferries passenger services are suspended this weekend. For travel 8/9/10 April, please rebook directly with another operator before arriving at the port."
It added DFDS would not be able to transfer P&O Ferries customers onto their services, leaving those due to travel cross-Channel this weekend with few choices – and others looking to travel over Easter in limbo.
The line’s Larne-Cairnryan services will also remain suspended.
