Qatar Airways has confirmed its return to Birmingham airport as part of a ramping up of its UK presence.
The airline will recommence flights from 10 July, operating daily to Doha. Departures from Birmingham will be at 2.45pm, except on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, when flights will leave at 9am.
The carrier began flying from the Midlands airport in March 2016 with an initial eight flights a week. It suspended services during the pandemic in 2020.
The carrier outlined its 2023 plans at the ITB trade show in Berlin. As well as reviving Birmingham, Qatar Airways will increase frequencies from Heathrow to Doha from 42 a week to 45 and from Gatwick from daily to 10 a week, rising to double daily in summer. Edinburgh is also set to go double daily with an increase of four services a week.
Birmingham is one of 11 airports to which the carrier will resume flights in 2023, with others including Beijing, Osaka, Phnom Penh and Tokyo Haneda.
The carrier also announced seven new destinations including Chittagong in Bangladesh and Medan in Indonesia.
