Workers at Prestwick airport will walk out next month in a dispute over pay, the Unite union has confirmed.
More than three-quarters of Unite members at Prestwick voted in favour of strike action on an 84% turnout.
The action will get under way on Friday 5 August and continue every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday over the subsequent four weeks.
Unite said the dispute revolved around pay shift allowances and new starters receiving pay below the real living wage (£9.90).
The union represents more than 80 workers at the airport south of Glasgow including security staff, firefighters, airfield operators, ground crew, ground handling and cargo staff, customer service personnel and cleaners.
It said Prestwick’s latest pay offer was between 4% and 6.5%, significantly short of inflation. Talks held via government conciliation service Acas will resume on Thursday afternoon (21 July).
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “The last offer was not only well below inflation, but also proposes to pay new starters a rate lower than the real living wage. Our members deserve the public’s support in this battle, and we will fully support them in their fight for better jobs, pay and conditions.”
Prestwick was taken into public ownership nearly 10 years ago. Besides serving as a base for passenger flights, it also hosts a large cargo operation plus military flights and refuels from North America.
