Scenic Group is searching for a new UK and Ireland managing director after Richard Twynam left the group this week after just six months with immediate effect.
Twynam, a former managing director of Azamara in the UK, Ireland and EMEA, was appointed Scenic Group managing director in October. However, he confirmed in a LinkedIn post on Thursday (27 April) he since left his role with the group.
"For those not aware I chose to leave my previous role and am enjoying a little time in the garden," wrote Twynam. "I will of course miss the team a lot, great people that were very kind and welcoming to me and invested in my approach."
Twynam added he was now seeking his next challenge. A Scenic Group spokesperson confirmed Twynam resigned on Wednesday (26 April) "with immediate effect", adding a search for his replacement was under way.
"While we recruit a replacement, the wider UK leadership team will ensure all operations continue in a business-as-usual way," said the spokesperson. "We thank Richard for his time with the business and wish him well in his future endeavours."
Twynam’s nearly 30-year career in travel has seen him hold posts with the likes Tui and Virgin Holidays, and work on a consultancy basis with Kuoni.
Speaking to TTG earlier this year, Twynam reiterated his ambition to place agents at the centre of his work at Scenic, stressing his career in travel "has been built by partnering with the trade".
